Live Stage: Six Memos and Secret Courtyard at Venice Biennale [
Venice]

Roberto Paci Dalò & The Clocktower Gallery / ARTonAIR.org in New York collaborate during the opening week of the Biennale :: Six Memos, a sound-light installation :: and Secret Courtyard :: Aperitivo from 19:00 – 21:00 | Digestivo from 21:00 – Midnight :: Cortili musei civici Procuratie nuove, piazza San Marco 63, Venice, Italy ::
Six Memos is the site-specific sound-light installation created in the Procuratie nuove’s courtyards in piazza San Marco. The Williamsburg Bridge is the radio work by Roberto PaciDalò which provides the sound for the installation. The piece travels across the Hassidic communities around Brooklyn where the daily language – spoken at any age including kids – is Yiddish. Walking through Lee Avenue or Bedford Avenue is a unique perceptional experience. The Williamsburg Bridge connects Williamsburg to the Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Within one single train station it is possible to travel in time & space. This piece is about a language with no hope until a few decades ago when it became the language for a growing population within the USA. The work features the voice of Isaac Bashevis Singer and merges into today’s yiddish voices captured in the neighborhood in synagogues, yeshivot, bars, bookshops, and – last but not least – the best place ever: the street. At the centre of this very personal journey is the Old Williamsburg Cafe in Lee Avenue; an authentic masterpiece of yiddishkeit. These voices are processed, filtered, transformed, re-composed for the creation of a sonic work.
