Fowler, and Bora Yoon which transforms the Park Avenue Armory’s vast and majestic 55,000 sq. ft drill hall space into a sonic voyage through time and space. Sympho’s ARCO is a modern creation myth that speaks of the human condition; at once a musical exploration of an architectural icon and a musical journey in the landscape of the human soul, where we witness the soul’s evolution in the place where the struggle toward divinity and grace finds its battleground. Spanning centuries of music, from early music to new music freshly writ, to surround orchestral and electronic aleatory in 6.2, this event kicks off the inaugural Tune In Festival, 5-day festival of new music, curated by eighth blackbird.
Performance features 53-piece orchestra SYMPHO, Haas, Fowler, Yoon , bass-baritone Charles Perry Sprawls, early music quartet New York Polyphony. Visual and staging design by award-winning designer Ruth Pongstaphone. Sympho Orchestra: the classical music concert experience revitalized for the 21st century.
