An event to celebrate the work of Max Neuhaus and the recently published book Max Neuhaus: Times Square, Time Piece Beacon. David Shively will perform a selection of Neuhaus’s early concert realizations of works by New York School composers, followed by a special screening showing rarely seen films and videos of and by Neuhaus, including Phill Niblock’s 1967 Max and a recently discovered video documenting Drive-in Music.
David Shiveley will be performing music of Earle Brown, John Cage, and Morton Feldman including his reconstructions of Neuhaus’ “Fontana Mix: Feed” and “Four Systems” as well as new versions of 27’10.554″ and The King of Denmark created for this event. Film screenings will include Phill Niblock’s “Max” (1967) and a recently unearthed video documenting a performance of Max’s’ “Drive-In Music”…
The collection installed in the galleries is amazing – Sol Lewitt, Agnes Martin, Gerhard Richter, Richard Serra.
