Live Stage: Tristan Perich + Lesley Flanigan [
NYC]

Tristan Perich, Lesley Flanigan and the NOW Ensemble :: December 18, 2009; 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. :: Galapagos Art Space, 16 Main St., Brooklyn, NY.
New Amsterdam Records and the Archipelago Series present Tristan Perich and Lesley Flanigan as they wrap up their 22-show tour across the USA with a final performance this Friday at Galapagos. Perich and Flanigan will be joined by the fiery contemporary music group NOW Ensemble.
In his new half-hour duet, Dual Synthesis (for harpsichord and four-channel 1-bit electronics), Perich choreographs a lush intersection between antique keyboard instrument and primitive electronics. Artist/vocalist Lesley Flanigan performs work from her new CD “Amplifications” (for handcrafted speaker feedback instruments and her own singing voice), sculpting ‘physical-electronic’ music by hand. Flanigan will be also joined by special guest artist R. Luke DuBois (video) and sopranos Sarah Moulton and Pamela Stein for this final performance event.
NOW Ensemble, the dynamic quintet that “combine[s] the formal elegance of chamber music with a pop-honed concision and rhythmic vitality” (Time Out New York), returns to Galapagos for the first time since their stunning presentation of Missy Mazzoli’s “Song from the Uproar” as part of May’s Undiscovered Islands festival. For this show, NOW will present New York premieres of new works by composers Mark Dancigers (Reburst), Michael Early (Where A Meets B), Sean Friar (Velvet Hammer), and Judd Greenstein (Change), plus a reprise of John Altieri’s “Not Yet”.
