Net_Music_Weekly: Metamkine
La Cellule d’Intervention Metamkine is an open-ended group including musicians and filmmakers researching the relationship between image and sound. Through the magic of mirrors, multiple projectors and highly ingenious live on stage editing, Metamkine produces and directs a new film with each of their performances. Working around a core narrative, they spill eddies of impromptu vignettes, accompanied by a live soundtrack of tape fragments and ancient synthesiser sounds. Jérôme Noetinger (electroacoustics), Christophe Auger (projectors 16mm), and Xavier Quérel (projectors 16mm) — who have worked together for ten years — have succeeded in pushing the boundaries of film and soundtrack into the realm of live performance.

Metamkine will perform at Liquid Architecture, Australia’s premier sound-arts festival. “Liquid Architecture is a sense specific festival, as opposed to art form specific. Occurring annually since 2000, Liquid Architecture celebrates the diverse methods of sound making and sound theory. It is our belief that listening is a vital activity, and one that is often overlooked within the dominance of visual media in our environment.” The fesitival takes place in 3 cities, Sydney (June 28-30), Brisbane (July 6-7), and Melbourne (July 11-14).
